Observed by Australia and New Zealand every year on the 25th of April, ANZAK Day commemorates the 1915 landing at Gallipoli of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who battled against Turkish troops for more than eight months in this infamous and heart breaking World War I campaign. Pride and sentimentality for the ANZAK soldiers is enduring in Australia and New Zealand and ANZAC Day remains one of the most important national occasions in both countries.
